This trailer is very different from most trailer because it is just one continuous shot throughout. The shot is zooming in which shows that the person on the screen is important. The fact that we only see this one person in the trailer shows the audience how important he is. The colour of his clothes shows us that he is a untrustworthy and cunning like fox. The trailer also takes advantage of the fact that the audience knows what happens in pirate films so theres no need to go show all of the different aspects. The forest background tells the audience that the future is unclear, that you don't know whats going to happen in this film. Jonny Depp tells you that Kiera Knightley is going to be in the film rather than showing her, partly due to the nature of the advert and partly to keep some mystery to the film. The bottle of rum adds verisimilitude o the trailer, to make the audience believe that they are looking at a real pirate. After Jonny Depp, you see the text zoom in from the darkness, like it is an under water monster, giving the audience a small clue as to a twist in the film, the text is also in the classic pirates of the Caribbean font and style to show the audience that this is the real deal. The way that the light shines in from above the surface on the writing tells the audience that this film is a bright light at dark time, effectively saying this film is better than any other so go and watch it.
