An unexpected event has just occured in Jersey, a blizzard during the week, at about 11.30 there was ridiculously heavy snow and school was cancelled, but more importantly the continuous snowfall meant that I could not film

Filming Shedule
i couldnt film all that i wanted this weekend, i was trying to film when someone told me that i wasn't aollowed to film, as a result of this i couldn't set up and had to film as slyly as possible, this in turn meant that most of the footage was too shaky to use. so i'm going on University visits on the 28th-29th of November so i've rescheduled the filming for then

Script for Voiceover
so for my trailer my voiceover needs to be scripted, i probably have more than i need here but it's better to record more and just not use stuff than not having stuff you need

Poster Drafts
so this first draft was my original idea:
this second draft is my final one after i made changes to the first, the problem with the first one is i felt that it was the text that was the dominant feature not the actors, so i wanted to make the picture bigger than the text, the reason that i only chose one of the actors on the poster is that i thought it could work as a series, like other films where different actors appear on separate posters:

Actors
ok so for my actors there was only really two people i had in mind for two of the roles, they are both Drama students so there acting skills are excellent and they do fit the bill rather well in terms of appearance:
the difficult decision for me was the third actor to appeal in my film, really in terms of looking the part i had two options:
In the end i went for this actor because he looked better in the sunglasses than the other option and the fact that he has more time available in the scheduled filming period

Media Questionnaire Results
Question 1
So out of those that replied 53.1% were male and 49% were female, so this tells me that my results are going to be for a trailer/magazine/poster that appeals more to men but not solely for men
Question 4
the results of this questionnaire show that the most popular genre is not really clear; comedy, action and thriller are popular but no genre really has an outright majority, therefore my trailer could be based on any genre.
Question 5
The results of this question show me that most people only watch TV for 1-3 hours a week, so my trailer will have to be played during the most popular TV shows at peak times in order to get noticed and talked about, I realise that this would be ideal for every single piece of advertising ever but this is particularly important for my trailer but because my target audience don't all watch lots of TV they may miss the trailer and my film will suffer as a result.
Question 6
The results of this questionnaire show me that my trailer should be placed during the most popular entertainment programmes and perhaps important sports games/competitions that would attract lots of viewers.
Qustion 7
the results of this question show me that people only go to the cinema about once a month, therefore this tells me that my film would either have to show so much popularity that I could bring it out during the peak time for films, or I would have to find a gap in the film calendar that no major films would be coming out, so that my film appealed more at that particular time.
Question 8
these results show me that my trailer should focus on the stars in my movie, so focus on the actors that appear in the movie rather than the special effects or other features.
Question 9
the results of this question show me that people like to see a star studded cast and a hint at a detailed story line in the trailers.
Question 10
the results of this show me that most people find out about films through the trailer they see on TV

Entertainment Weekly Magazine
the main image of this magazine focuses on the focuses on the green lantern symbol, showing it twice in the image really pushes the idea to the fans of the comic book that this is all about green lantern
the masthead continues the theme of the main image changing the colour to green, the text of this magazine is bold which makes it stand out and this is helped because it's the biggest text on the page.
The main cover line links to the main image because of the use of colour on the text, it also uses a bold font in block capitals to really make it stand out. The main cover line utilizes the star appeal of the actor to appeal to a wider audience
the cover lines use key words such as special and sneak peaks these attract the audience to the magazine because it gives the impression that you are getting something special in this magazine that you wont get in others
the cover line at the top of the page uses the magazines more well known and more anticipated films because they are close to the title and maiin image, the two main eye catching points of the magazine, by placing these cover lines close, it becomes the next thing the reader will see and these big names make the magazine more attractive to a wider audience.
The cover lines down the side of the page take advantage of alternating colour between the cover lines to make each one of them more noticeable. The cover lines utilize shapes to make them more noticeable and pull the readers eye away from the main image to show the reader the other features of the magazine
Resident Evil Poster
The first thing you notice is the use of the star in the poster she is the actor that you associate with the resident evil series, she is the constant throughout the films, so when you see it you instantly recognise the film.
The overall genre of this poster is action
the stars pose represents the fact that this is an action film, the flying kick gives the idea that this is really about combat
the use of props in the image also shows that this film is going to be all about shooting stuff and blowing things up
the costume chosen shows that this is not your typical feminine women but a more action adrenaline junky to represent the action theme pursued by this poster
The broken glass represents that this film is an action, smashed windows are something that comes as a result of fighting and guns blazing,
the title uses the classic Resident evil film font that shows the audience instantaneously that they are looking at a sequel to the successful films that came previously.
The change of colour for the 3D highlights to the audience that the film is in 3D to intice the audience to go to watch it because of this effect
the title also represents a unique selling point, at the time of release this film was one of the first to be in 3D the way the text angles out gives the impression of 3D to sow the audience
the bottom of the poster has all the key titles and figures that helped to make this film in the classic tall text, as well as this there is the website to get the audience to check out more features of the film
Total film magazine cover analysis
the main image of this magazine uses a picture which utilises the male gaze theory attracting the reader to the magazine when it is the shop. However this magazine does not use any colour in its main image possibly to make the cover lines stand out more or possibly to make his eyes stand out more or the facial expression the key focus rather than the various colours used.
For both the main and normal cover lines they use special key words and phrases that make the magazine more attractive to a potential reader, words such as NEW or EXCLUSIVE make the reader feel like they are getting more for their money, something different you wouldn't get in other magazines.
The masthead uses a big text which makes it stand out and more noticeable which is important when looking at magazines in a store. The bold font also helps to make the magazine stand out more.
The magazine integrates its website and issue number into the title which makes it easy to find which is important because the website is a key part of advertising the magazines features and upcoming issues
this magazine does not contain a selling line, which may be because there are 4 different covers to collect, replacing the selling line
The main cover line is in a big text attracting the reader, and the use of white for the text makes sure that the readers attention is not drawn away from the main image so easily, the main cover line sets out the focus of the main article in the magazine, to give the reader a clear idea what the magazine is focusing on.
The cover lines at the top of the page above the mast head uses a large text and uses colour to attract the reader to them, this is important because this cover line shows the reader some of the more important articles, these main articles will be about the bigger, most anticipated films that are coming in order to increase circulation of the magazine.
The use of shapes make the magazine more appealing by adding extra bits and pieces to the page the circle shows the reader that there is the normal content of the magazine PLUS these extra bits added in to this months issue
Valkyrie Poster
The first thing that I noticed when I looked at this poster was the red stripe through the poster, this stripe performs multiple functions. The way that Tom Cruise name is linked to his picture using the red stripe is extremely innovative and clever, people don't need a link between the two but it adds that extra boost that makes it so eye-catching. The stripe also represents itself as part of the Nazi symbol which helps to show the genre and setting of the film. The stripe also integrates itself with the background, it describes the route into what appears to be the main room of Hitlers bunker, hinting at the plot.
The assorted film text has been used in an unusual manner instead of being at the bottom they've stacked it up the left hand side also unusual is how a piece of it has been situated away from the rest of it
the image used takes advantage of star appeal putting their most well known international actor at the forefront, whilst more nationally known actors are moved to the sides. The lack of colour in the main image represents the aura that nazi films have in them a dark time that needs to be lifted.
The selling line continues this theme about trying to lift the darkness by removing the source of it
the title uses a bold font but the lack of colour doesnt really make it stand out compared to the red stripe
Sherlock Holmes Poster
This poster uses the stars as a unique selling point for the film 1 really well known actor is enough to attract a wide fan base that will almost make the film an instant hit.
The overall colour scheme is one of overall calm, which in some way represents the way that Sherlock Holmes works however the cloudy ist that is showing at the bottom of th poster takes away somewhat from that feeling of calm, which helps to set out a tiny glimpse of the story. Th way that the actors have been placed in front of the text suggests that the actors involved are more important to the advertising process than what the film is based on.
The names of the actors across the top of the page helps to boost the appeal to a wider audience, even without them being a main feature on the poster, you can recognise them by name from previous films that you have seen.
The line 'holmes for the holiday' plays well on a common theme for the holidays.
The use of red on the film release date also plays with the christmas theme and makes it stand out from the rest of the poster
Film Star Magazine
This magazine is very different to the others I have analysed, this is the only one that uses plain white as the main colour scheme, it uses very few colours which, judging all of the other magazines I have analysed so far, could perhaps make it stand out more in the store, however it does follow most of the codes and conventions.
This magazine does not however follow the normal codes and conventions that are usually applied to the masthead, the masthead is not the biggest writing on that appears on the page but, however it could be argued that because the masthead has in a more defined, and striking colour that it is more noticeable than the bigger but less striking text.
This magazine also has an interesting choice of main article to feature on the front cover of the magazine. If you look at the cover lines at the bottom of the page, it includes more well known names and big film titles that you would perhaps see on the more well known magazines. This may have been done because this magazine is trying to capture a different target audience than the main magazines.
The main image follows the codes and conventions established by the other magazines, the main image directly relates to that of the main cover line the use of the long shot accurately depicts the type of movie that they are showing it combines a sci-fi genre with a dramatic story telling film.
The selling line depicts accurately how the magazine seems to target a different audience than the main magazines, the phrasing of the selling line shows clearly shows that this magazine is different from other film magazines.
The cover lines on the front cover include several famous names that will attract the reader to the magazine, the cover lines are also the source of what little colour exists on the page, this helps the reader to identify what there will be in this magazine.
Sky Movies Magazine
The masthead is in its own unique font, that is well known from the sky box adverts on the TV, which makes the magazine easily recognisable in a shop, and the well known brand will attract plenty of readers.
The main image is of a well known actor which helps to attract a bigger audience, her outfit is a very light colour, suggesting to the audience that she is a fair, soft, kind person. Her make up also suggests the audience that she is also vibrant. The photograph has the actor looking straight at the audience, this is done to engage the reader. The use of lighting in the photo makes Emma Watson the focus of attention, this helps to show her star appeal and make her the image of perfection that the people are used to seeing. The contrast with the car has an interesting effect, perhaps showing that this actress is a burst of sunshine in a dark time.
The main cover line is in the second biggest text on the page and is placed over the main image drawing your eye to it, this main cover line uses a highlighted 'exclusive' to give this main article that something extra special, that this is the only place to find this article, the reader will then be more inclined to buy this magazine.
The cover lines are given a highlighted title so that they stand out from the rest of the text, this is done to highlight what you will be getting from this magazine and really make it clear to the reader that all these really interesting topics are featured in the magazine without having to find the contents page.
The plus symbol acts is used to act as incentive for the reader to buy the magazine because it tells the reader that you are getting more for your money if you buy this magazine.
The left third of the page has several things that will attract the reader to this magazine when it's in the shop, at the top of the page there is the word 'win' with the exclamation mark, this will attract the reader because they will want a chance to win something, also the word Sky of the masthead is visible in the left third so readers will automatically see that they are looking at a sky product.
Black Hawk Down Poster
The soldier in the front of the picture is not shown with his gun blazing away or in an action situation shows us that this is not going to be another war film but has a more in depth story to it than going out to kill some rebels. The mise-en-scene does keep the aspects of an action film, with the army uniform and rifle to show those who like action films that this movie is for them. The expression on the soldiers face, is not that of a man who's drunk on action, but a troubled one helping to develop the sense of a story line.
This poster's colour scheme is very unique, using only orange and black, the colour scheme helps to establish a horizontal rule of thirds. The use of the black at the top of the poster shows how there is darkness upon them in the film and the orange around the soldier and the helicopters is showing us how they are fighting to lift the darkness and wiping it off the face of the earth. This helps to show the audience that this film is not just another war film with mindless violence, but has a more meaningful storyline behind it. Which attracts both those who like action films as well as those who like a film with a good story line and more meaning.
The helicopters in the background and the helicopter that the soldier is in, giving the impression that you are getting a zoomed in view of the helicopter squadron. The way that the brightest light is around the helicopter shows you that the Americans are the good guys and they've come to solve all the problems and lift this period of darkness.
The slogan picked for the film also helps to represent that storyline aspect of the film in order to attract a much wider audience. The slogan will also attract those war fanatics who love a good war film and this classic military phrase will attract them to the film. The font used is an army stencil like font, but not the exact stencil, this is done to reinforce the fact this is not just another fighting action film without much of a storyline.
Up Poster
An interesting thing about this poster is the way that the main title has been made to look horizontal, so that It looks like it is also up high in the sky, this is different, and so can attract the audience away from other poster because of this different style. The font of this text is very unique not hard corners all sort of soft, by doing this it makes it look like a cloud to give the poster that bit of realism and its own unique little style again. All of the text used in this poster is giving the impression of clouds and sky, giving the poster that soft and cuddly feeling, this attracts the young kids who this poster will be aimed at.
The main image is cleverly done to show all the main characters, whilst showing the audience who is most important in terms of the film, by putting the most important at the front and then dropping back. This tactic also gives the audience idea of the characters relevance in the storyline. The characters selected for this poster are also important, this poster makes them look like a family, and by doing this they make the film more appealing to families with kids.
A wide variety of colour that is used in this poster is used to attract a wider audience and to make the poster much more attractive to the viewer. Whilst attracting a wider audience it also makes the poster more appealing to young kids who will want to go and see the film and the more kids you get to go and watch a film, they more adults that will have to go and watch the film.
Placing the disney pixar logos is something that very few companies can do with such meaning, world famous for their animated films, this acts as star appeal to all the young kids who love disney films
SciFiMagazine
The masthead is in it's own font that will make it easily recognisable in a shop, so that a fan of the magazine can easily pick it out but the title makes it obvious to the reader that they are going to like this magazine. The dot of the i is done in this special planet style, so that it improves the image for the magazine and gives it that extra look of professionalism.
The selling line is used to help sell the magazine to potential readers, this helps to increase the number of readers, also installs a confidence in the reader that the magazine will be quality.
the main image uses a famous actress to attract a wider audience and use the sex appeal that the actress has gained over her time in film to attract a male audience, which this magazine will be aimed at. The main image is used to engage the reader, in order to attract the reader when it is sitting among other movie magazines. The choice of clothing is important to, a revealing top makes the magazine more attractive to the target audience.
The main cover line is in the second biggest text on the page, this is done to draw the readers eye to it and show its importance to the magazine. The main cover line does not need to be put over the main image because the actress' star appeal is such that the target audience will know who this person is, showing off the stars that this magazine can attract.
The use of the red highlighting for the cover lines attracts the reader to these points, the highlighted words will usually be to signify that this magazine has something different that no other magazine has, or something particularly important to this months issue of the magazine, this makes the magazine more appealing to a reader, who when has a choice between magazines, will go for the one that has the most exclusive stuff.
The left third of this magazine contains lots of red which sticks out from the blue's that are on the rest of the front cover. This makes it more eye catching when it's in the shop, so it sticks out from other magazines, as well as this it contains a picture which also helps to attract the eye when the magazine is in a shop.
SFX magazine
The colour scheme for this magazine is used to attract it's target audience, the use of the red's and yellow's is combined to give the look of an explosion so that it gives the audience the impression that the magazine is full of action, and that the film's that the magazine focuses on is action based.
The masthead follows the codes and conventions of a magazine front cover, the text is the biggest on the page and directly shows the audience that if you like films full of special effects, then you should buy this magazine.
The main coverline of the magazine, follows the codes and conventions, it's the second biggest text on the page and it directly relates to the main image, this attracts the audience to it and helps to provide extra info about the film before you've even read it, the font of the text is similar to that of the actual film, this helps the audience to relate to the film.
The main image takes advantage of the star appeal of the actor, making the audience more likely to buy it. The main image also uses the unique selling point of the film, coming from an angle that other films don't have, by doing this it makes the magazine more interesting to the reader, thereby making the reader more likely to buy the magazine in a shop. The image they have chosen looks directly at you, which engages the reader when they are looking for a magazine to buy in a shop, so you are more likely to buy it when you see it.
The coverlines all have a heading in a white, bold and capital font and highlighted in red, which attracts the audience to them, the use of language on the coverlines suggests to the audience that they are getting more for their money and that the magazine has got a lot more in it.
The use of Stars between the names, increases the idea that the magazine has lots of famous people in it. As well as this the special coverline 'massive marvel meltdown' gives the reader the impression that this magazine is a special edition, enticing the reader to buy it.
The left third of the magazine is full of coverlines and is the only other part of the magazine to have pictures, this is done so that when the magazine is stacked up in the store with lots of other magazines it stands out more than the other magazines.

The Expendables Poster
This poster also takes advantage of the cast that are going to be in the film, this poster is tailored especially, so that the target audience knows that all these great names are going to be in this film, so you don't want to miss it.
This starts with the main image, Stallone Statham and Li are all action greats so if you've seen any of their films, you'll want to go and see the film. Also the guns and the macho poses, gives the effect that this is going to be a flat-out action extravaganza and that is what the audience will want to see when they go and watch the film. The most important characters to the target audience have been chosen for the main image because they are the actors that can attract the most people, this is clearly seen, with the difference between the poster made for the USA and this one made for the UK.
The explosion and the rubble in the background gives the impression that this film is going to full of action and destruction, this has been done because that is what the audience is going to watch the film for.
The list of the names in the military stencil font, creates the impression that these are all fighting men and as such when you see these men you'll see fighting and action, which is why you go and watch this type of film as a consumer, so it attracts the target audience to the film.
The use of the quote, gives the film the extra hype, a good review can help towards a bigger audience and persuade those who are unsure about wether they are going to watch the film.
The title of this poster is is a big bold font, this attracts the audience to this piece of text, showing us it's importance in relation to the film.
At the bottom of the poster they give us the date which is also in a big bold text, showing the audience that this is important so you should take this is and remember it.
